I love to read.
I read all kinds of books.
I have to say, though, I'm most drawn to fiction.
That being said, I have set a goal to read more non-fiction! I'm excited to broaden my literary tastes. And I'm encouraging you to do the same! If you only read fantasy, pick up a historical novel this week...your world grows larger with each book you read!

The first non-fiction book I picked up was Mermaid Queen by Shana Corey, illustrated by Edwin Fotheringham.
This is a vivid biography of Annette Kellerman, an Australian gal who made swimming (and bathing suit) history. The illustrations are bright and exciting, and the story isn't the dull language of non-fiction books from my youth!
This books draws you in from the first sentence:
"Annette Kellerman loved to make waves."
Again, I have not been a lover of non-fiction, but I LOVED this book!
I'm looking forward to reading another of Corey's books, You Forgot Your Skirt, Amelia Bloomer.
And just for fun, check out this history of bathing suits!
