Eleanor & Park
by Rainbow Rowell
published by St. Martin's Press
Ok, I had heard talk of this book. LOTS OF TALK. (Mostly from author, Julie Murphy!) I finally decided I couldn't put it off any longer. I checked it out at the library. I opened the cover and found this:
And somehow, just that fast, I fell in love!
Rainbow Rowell became one of my absolute FAVE young adult authors in literal moments! The text immediately sucked me in to the crazy world of Eleanor & Park. I remembered being an 80's kid. I remembered the songs, the products, the hairstyles, the attitudes...and I connected to these characters. (Then I hummed 80's tunes for the next week...even more than usual!)
I gave Rainbow a shout out on Twitter and that's when she dropped this awesome bomb on me:
SERIOUSLY?!!! I would LOVE a sequel to Eleanor & Park. LOVE. And I'm not one to just be crazy for sequels, but when you read this...AND YOU WILL...you are going to want a sequel, too. You just can't let go of these amazing characters.
Needless to say, I adore this book. You must read it if you haven't already. It is considered YA, but I feel like it was written for me. A book that will definitely be added to my permanent collection!
Kirkus Reviews got it just right when they said, "Funny, hopeful, foulmouthed, sexy, and tear-jerking, this winning romance will captivate teen and adult readers alike."
