This Ezra Jack Keats' Book Award winner is so wonderful! Published in 2002...my first year out of college...I missed reading it back then. I am so glad to have stumbled upon it at the library! The story brought tears to my eyes (as so many good books do!)...it is a story told simply and beautifully. And you will love the illustrations, too! So for all of you who are constantly searching for diversity in kidlit, look no further! I know it isn't a recent publication, but it is one worth revisiting.
