I saw a great idea on Pinterest a few years ago...some wonderful woman collects and individually wraps Christmas books so that her kids can have a gift every day until Christmas. Bless her heart. We are doing good just to get our books on the shelf around here! We do have quite the collection of holiday books, though. My only organization for them is to store them (with love) in the holiday bins with our decorations, etc. Just after Thanksgiving, we will pull down all the fun Christmas bins and the book reading will begin!
I did get a little early gifty this year from Zonderkidz, though. The First Christmas Ever found its way to my doorstep and has already been enjoyed several times!
The First Christmas Ever
illustrated by Dennis Jones
published by Zonderkidz
A simple retelling of the Christmas story, from the angel’s visit to Mary to the shepherds’ joyful praise of the new born Baby, this small format paperback, The First Christmas Ever is sure to be popular with young readers. Using the vibrant and popular artwork of Dennis Jones, families can share this timeless story of God’s love each holiday season.
My Two Cents
I love the Biblical account of Jesus' birth. And I love how Zonderkidz presented the nativity story as simply as possible. The timeline is also perfect in this book, while in others the wise men are coming to see infant Jesus in the manger. The story is aimed more at independent readers--or prereaders who will sit and listen well! The price and the quality of this book make it a must buy for your Christmas book collection!
