Our church started reading The Story together at the beginning of the year. I was hesitant at first, but I have really enjoyed it. It tells the stories of the Bible as one big story that fits together. Zonderkidz also offers the children's version, The Story for Kids, which our kids are studying in their Sunday School classes.
I have enjoyed having lunch with my little family after church and discussing what we all learned that day--it is cool that we are all learning the same things on age appropriate levels. And if you are reading and working through it at home, there are discussion questions at the end of each section.
This book helps kids grasp "the big picture" of the Bible.
