I spent the summer reading all the fun books I could get my hands on! That list ended up being tons of suspense, which isn't my norm, but I loved it! I'm one more testament to the joy of reading outside of your normal pet genres! I know the suspense is killing you (see what I did there?!) so here are several of my favorite suspense novels I read this summer...
The Last Mrs. Parrish
by Liv Constantine
This was a perfect summer read. Quick and action packed! It is well written and wickedly delightful...I'm hoping this one eventually becomes a movie.
Then She Was Gone
by Lisa Jewell
Oh, I just adore Lisa Jewell. Her writing and character development are on point. The House We Grew Up In is among my favorite contemporary adult novels because her characters are just so real. "Then She Was Gone" has that same depth though the subject matter is very different. I love this author and will probably read anything she puts out...even if it's a manual on how to work my dishwasher.
Do This For Me
by Eliza Kennedy
The protagonist of this tale discovers that her husband is unfaithful and then the rest of the story moves from there. This isn't my typical pick of books, but I had heard good things about it. Not my favorite from this list, but it was good.
The Death of Mrs. Westaway
by Ruth Ware
This is a page turner! I loved the protagonist and her backstory. And I love the remaining characters from the Westaway family. It kept me interested the entire time and I enjoyed the pace at which everything unfolded. Well written and plotted. A definite must read!
You Were Made for This
by Michelle Sacks
I'm still not sure if I liked this one...but it is definitely suspenseful and different than anything I've read lately. Very dark. I can see this being made into a movie and some of the awkwardness being translated better in physical nuance.
Something In The Water
by Catherine Steadman
This one will be a bestseller...and most likely a movie. I liked it, it read well, it was written well, but it was a little predictable for me. That said, this would be a good quick read for a vacation or reading weekend.
More Suspense on my TBR
