Razia's Ray of Hope is a part of Citizen Kid, "a collection of books that inform children about the world and inspire them to be better global citizens."

It is based on the true events leading up to the creation of the Zabuli Education Center for Girls outside of Kabul.  The Center was founded by Razia Jan, who appears in this story of a girl who longs to go to school.  Her determination to go to school is daunted only by the fact that she must first convince her family.

"Even if I couldn't go to school, I was determined to be the kind of woman Baba gi had described--a woman who helped others through her work inside and outside her home."
