Description
Pig and Bug just want to be friends. But their size difference is proving to be a BIG problem. Pig wants to play games - but Bug is too small. Bug wants to make things for his friend - but Pig is too big! Just as they've given up all hope for their friendship, Pig has an idea… But will it work?
My Two Cents
The illustrations in the book are adorable. The contrast in color and the style sucks you in! I found myself staring at each illustration and finding a new little "something" each time. One particular illustration of Pig on a bicycle really belongs framed on a wall...in my office...
(You CAN actually buy prints of his work HERE)
The story is about making friends...and staying friends regardless of differences. Sometimes the most unlikely people become your closest friends. This book highlights that fact in a humorous way. My only comment would be to buy this book in a hard copy. I wasn't pleased with the view on my ereader and there were some glitches throughout. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would certainly recommend it to you!
About the Author
Alex Latimer lives near the border of a national park so when not writing or drawing, he spends his free time shooing baboons out of his lounge. The Boy Who Cried Ninja is his first book for children. He lives in South Africa. (from Goodreads profile)
There is a fabulous interview with him HERE that gives you a glimpse of his personality...and on a side note, anyone who doesn't feel it's necessary to clean his desk prior to a photo op is fine by me!
Super sweet story. Such small lessons in picture books make for great reading experiences! thanks for sharing on Tina's linky!
