Spring Picture Books to Put in Your Easter Basket

Easter is soon upon us!  If you are like me, you get a little tired of all the "junk" that the Easter Bunny leaves in the baskets.  I find that I am purging it just months later.  One thing that always escapes the mama purge is a lovely little book. So make sure the Easter Bunny knows that your kiddo probably wants a few books in the basket this year!  Here are a few timeless choices:

The Easter Egg

Hoppi is determined to make the most lovely Easter egg so that he can accompany the Easter Bunny as he delivers eggs.  This story is cute, but as with most of Jan Brett's books, the illustrations steal the show.  She is such a gifted artist!





When Spring Comes
by Kevin Henkes
illustrated by Laura Dronzek

For the first time since Birds, Henkes and Dronzek worked together on this lovely little book.  This just released and will be a fun new read for your kiddo.





Make Way for Ducklings
by Robert McCloskey

Generations of young readers have fallen in love with this book about a family of ducks navigating its way to Boston Public Gardens.  This classic belongs in every child's library.

Home for a Bunny
by Margaret Wise Brown

Margaret Wise Brown is a favorite of mine--Big, Red Barn is a my favorite of her books!  This one is pretty cute, too... follow this sweet little bunny on its journey to find home.





Duck! Rabbit!

I first heard this story at story time with my kids at our local library. It is hilarious and so fun to read again and again...and try to figure out if that's a duck or a rabbit, of course!
