In 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed a celebration of tree planting called Arbor Day. This tradition of planting trees is still going strong! If you are looking for ways to celebrate, just visit the official Arbor Day website.
When I was in college, I took a class in which we studied John Muir. His passion for nature was deep and contagious. If you want to create just a spark of what John Muir had in your kiddo, you might consider reading these lovely picture books about trees.
