The Blurb
Sixth grade really sucked for Jake, but he has decided that seventh grade is a new start. The seventh grade sleepover will kick off his new "beginning of greatness" ...but even that gets off to a bumpy start. His eighth grade team leaders are all about winning and the team building exercises are awkward--not to mention the corn dog spill and the Hello Kitty shirt.
When the museum is taken by bad guys, Jake and his teammates are in a fight to stay alive and solve the mystery of why.
My Two Cents
Sucked in. Those two words pretty much sum up my first moments with this book. Brian Wells has mastered the fine art of "the hook." I was hooked from the beginning and immediately thought of all the young friends to whom I could recommend this book. The middle school male point of view is on point and the action packed story pulls you forward, daring you not to turn the page. Wells captures the awkwardness of middle school in the very best way, all while throwing in vocabulary words and intriguing pop culture references.
Don't miss this book! It is a fun adventure/heist/mystery/action/quest tale that you will not want to be guilty of ignoring. You can find out more by visiting the book's website: https://leagueandlantern.com/
