The Blurb

Rodeo Red and her hound dog Rusty are happier than two buttons on a new shirt… until Side Swiping Slim shows up. Red is sure that anyone who hollers that much will be hauled to the edge of town and told to skedaddle, but her parents seem smitten. When that scallywag sets his eye on Rusty, Rodeo Red had better figure out a way to save her best friend in all the world. Can she make a bargain with a varmint?

My Two Cents

So I've been talking about this book for a while now.  I was dying to read it and I was NOT disappointed!  I am crazy about Rodeo Red!  Something about "the varmint" actually being her adorable baby brother reminds me of Mustache Baby (another favorite of mine!)  And in true cowboy fashion, I'm always a fan of a "good guy" winning in the end!  And we know Red's a good guy because she is clearly wearing a white hat!

Side Swiping Slim, Red, and her trusty side-kick are depicted perfectly by the super duper talented Molly Idle.  These are the kind of illustrations I would love prints of to hang in my office. They are so fun!

This will absolutely be added to the permanent collection at my house, and I highly recommend getting a copy for your library as well!  And here's your big chance!  Peachtree Publishers has offered a copy to one luck Big Hair and Books reader!
